DETERMINATION

quotes on motivation about determination to get your motivation fired up. If you are not making progress towards achieving your dreams determination could be the missing ingredient.

Determination is moving ahead towards your desired objective regardless of the number and frequency of obstacles in your way. It is a decision to carry on and take on whatever challenge comes between you and your dreams.

Determination is a state of mind. It is the unshaken resolve to do something. It requires vision and belief in yourself. When you know what you want and know that you can have it, you are on your way to having great determination.

Decide today to be determined.

“What this power is I cannot say; all I know is that it exists and it becomes available only when a man is in that state of mind in which he knows exactly what he wants and is fully determined not to quit until he finds it.”

WHAT IT MEANS TO HAVE A VISION

Tossed about by life? Vision will keep you grounded. These encouraging motivation quotes will help you get a vision for your life.

If you do not have a clear vision of what you want your life to be, it is unlikely you will achieve much. Yes, you may enjoy some degree of success by chance, but you will never be the person that you could be. You will never exploit all your potential and achieve anything worth while.

Your vision of your life is your roadmap. It will keep you on the right track and direct you to move in the direction of your dreams. Without vision, you will be lost in the jungle of life. You will get distracted by everything life throws at you. You will be a boat without a sail drifting wherever the wind takes it.

Have a vision of who you want to be. If you had all the money and resources at your disposal what would you do with your life? Make it your vision for your life and, like a road map to get to a destination, follow it. Let it lead you to greatness and self fulfillment. Be the person you were meant to be.

Now to the motivation quotes:

                                     “Where there is no vision, the people perish…”

                                                    Proverbs 29:18, Bible

       "The Second Best-Kept Secret of Total Success is that our minds can't tell the difference between real                               experience and one that is vividly and repeatedly imagined."

                                                         Denis Waitley

                         “Seldom does an individual exceed his own expectations.”

                                                    Author Unknown

        "Every mammoth business enterprise, and every great invention, began in the imagination of some one            person."

                                                                Napoleon Hill

"Goals. There's no telling what you can do when you get inspired by them. There's no telling what you can do when you believe in them. And there's no telling what will happen when you act upon them."

                                                                    Jim Rohn

"Go confidently into the direction of your dreams. Live the life you always imagined."

                                                                   Thoreau

"Think and feel yourself there! To achieve any aim in life, you need to project the end-result....Think of the elation, the satisfaction, the joy! Carrying the ecstatic feeling will bring the desired goal into view."

WHAT IS MOLTIVATON

SO ONE WILL ASK WHAT IS MOTIVATION;

Motivation is simply
- The reason for an action
- That which gives purpose and direction to behavior.

Motivation is “WHAT drives you” to behave in a certain way or to take a particular action. It is

your WHY.

MOTIVATION IS YOUR ”WHY”

Your WHY is the strong reason for you to desire something. It is not what you desire, but the strong reason you desire it. Let me give an example. If you want to stop working and go into business for yourself here are some possible explanations:

Your desire – to have your own business.
Your WHY – to be independent, to have more time for your family, to have more time to pursue your dreams.

So you see that your WHY often goes beyond the physical objectives themselves. Your why often satisfies a psychological need. That is important. If your reason for doing something is just material (e.g. to own a Mercedes or have a huge house), it is unlikely to see you through the difficult times to achieving your dreams.

Your WHY has to look beyond the physical. It has to be from deep within. That way when the going gets tough, your WHY will see you through it because it is a strong, burning reason. It is a reason that will stand strong in the face of opposition.

Now you have a working definition of motivation. Let’s take the next step.

If YOUR “WHY” IS BIG ENOUGH, THE HOW DOESN'T MATTER

If your reason for wanting something is strong enough, even if at the time you don’t know how to achieve it, pursue it. It has often been said that when you desire something strongly enough the whole universe conspires to bring about the circumstances, people and resources you will need to achieve that purpose.

Step One – decide what you want.

Never mind how you are going to get it – decide what you want. Be as clear as possible on what you want. There will be more on this in a later section on setting goals. Write it down.

You must have a definition of motivation that is personal to you. Step Two – Think about WHY you want it.

Remember these have to be strong reasons. Write them down.

By carrying out these two steps you will have sorted out your personal definition of motivation. Your WHY is your personal definition of motivation.

These are simple steps but I guarantee you if you do them you are well on your way to achieving your dreams. This is where a lot of people get stuck. They just don’t know what they want. But not YOU. You know what you want and you are ready to work to achieve it. If you know what you want, you are already a winner.

The prison within - Overcoming fear

Overcoming fear – introduction

There is a prison that has an inmate population in the billions. It’s a prison without walls, without barbed wire, without guards and without any physical barrier. But it is the most effective prison in the whole world. Few escape it, but those who do find real and lasting freedom.

That prison is in our minds. It is a prison that holds back our initiative, our talent, our ability to express ourselves and, most of all, it holds back the fulfillment of our full potential as human beings.

That prison is fear. Our lives today are controlled by fear more than we know. Fear controls the choices we make, our actions, our habits and even our destinies. Fear has become one of the greatest threats to humanity in this day in its many forms. Terrorism has become the pinnacle of fear worldwide. Recent events in the world have shown how fear can drive even those that are powerful to behave desperately and inhumanely. But the effect of fear on our personal lives is more damaging that any terrorist can ever hope to achieve. Fear of life prevents most of us from living.

Fear of life? Yes. “Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity. They seem to be more afraid of life than death.” This observation was made by James F. Bymes.

Overcoming fear – the many faces of fear

In its extremes, fear in our personal lives causes anxiety and phobias. For people with such illnesses the prison of fear can seem like a death sentence. Their lives may be totally controlled by fear, making life totally unenjoyable and everyday tasks a real struggle. Fortunately, this is not the most common manifestation of fear. The far more destructive form of fear is one that we have come to accept because it is so common.

For example, I remember very clearly how when I was in my first year at university I met a lot of fellow students that were spreading fear everywhere they went. They would say how difficult the first year of natural science studies was and how badly people were failing the course. They had all the statistics of how many people failed last year and the year before that. They’d say things like “50 people failed that course last year.” What they didn’t tell you was that 400 people passed the same course last year.

All the seven years I was at university, were the same. Every year there were people speaking doom and failure. Often, it showed in the results they got. They were the same people struggling to pass. I, and many others like me, got through it farely unscathed. We chose to see the 90 percent that passed and not the 10 percent that failed.

Overcoming fear – fear can stop you from progressing

There are those of you out there with brilliant business ideas. What holds you back is fear. You think about all the statistics of how many businesses fail every year, or what your friends and family will think of you if you quit your job to pursue your dreams. The fear of not being able to pay your bills, fear of getting fired, fear of starting over and the fear of not having a job title all hold you back. It is fear that keeps most of us in jobs we do not enjoy and, sometimes, that don’t even meet our financial needs.

The fear of taking risks is one that few people are able to overcome. Risk is the potential harm that may arise from some present process or from some future event. In every area of life risk-taking is a necessary thing. If you propose marriage to someone you have to take the risk that they may say no. If you are in a race you have to take the risk that you may lose miserably. If you want to live life to its fullest you have to take the risk of failure. As Dorothy Thompson said: “Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live.”

Fear will paralyse you if you do not deal with it. It will absolutely stop you from living a life that you desire. Recognise it. Conquer it. Eleanor Roosevelt’s advice is that “you gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.”

Overcoming fear – there’s nothing to fear but fear itself

I’m sure you have had an experience in the past when you really feared something. After doing it how did you feel. Silly? Stupid? The feeling is often one of “that wasn’t so hard after all. I don’t know what I was afraid of.” Trying to fight fear is like trying to fight the dark. You can’t do it. The way to get rid of darkness is to bring in the light. The way to get rid of your fears is to conquer them. “Do the thing you fear to do and keep on doing it... that is the quickest and surest way ever yet discovered to conquer fear” ( Dale Carnegie).

Overcoming fear – you can do it today

Go ahead and start that business you want to start. Go ahead and study what you really want to study. Go ahead and become a musician, poet, artist, fashion designer or whatever else you want to do. Sure you might fail, but you might succeed too. Take the risk today and conquer your fears. Do you want to look back years from now and think I could have, I might have, and I should have. That is a sad way to live your life.

Overcoming fear – the futility of playing it safe

Remember that no matter how “safe” you play it one fate awaits us all. That is death. Whether you take a risk or not you will die. So of what benefit is it to you to be under the yoke of fear and live a life that is way below your potential? Use your life wisely. Free your mind from fear and worry and go for it.

Overcoming fear – the conclusion

There is only thing you should fear and that is God. That should not be a fear of terror, but of reverence. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Feed your faith and your fears will starve to death.

You are all you can be. Go on and be it.

Finding Your Purpose

Do you know what is driving you? Why are you working so hard and doing so much to get what you want? Do you know your purpose for being here?

Whatever your dreams may be and whatever you want to achieve, it is important to analyse the reasons for those things. The reasons for what you want to have and to achieve are your “why.” Your why is intimately tied to your purpose in life.

THE POWERHOUSE TO YOUR DREAMS - YOUR MIND AND THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING.

Your thoughts are the most important asset you have in your desire to achieve your dreams. They affect you in ways you never thought possible. The truth is, whether you know it or not, your thoughts are responsible for whatever place or situation you are in right now.

Nobody would argue that electricity exists. You can’t touch, smell, hear or see it, but its effects are evident everywhere you look. Its power is evident everywhere you look.

In the same way, your thoughts are energy. Your thoughts drive your life just as electricity drives a motor. That is the power there is in having a positive mental attitude.

Yes, I am not the first one to say this and I bet I won’t be the last either. You know why? Because it is true. It’s simple, but true. There is power in thoughts; in negative and in positive thinking. Choose positive thinking and you will enjoy positive energy and positive results.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK. This is one of my favorite positive thinking quotes:

If you think you are beaten you are;
If you think you dare not, you don't;
If you want to win but think you can't;
It's almost a cinch you won't.

If you think you'll lose you're lost;
For out of the world we find
Success begins with a fellow's will;
It's all in a state of mind.

Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger and faster man,
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.

Becoming a success - How to march to the beat of your own drum

by Osric V. Baugham
(Dacula, GA, USA).

Many people try to be something they are not. Maybe they lack self-esteem or self-confidence to be themselves. When this happens, they are not being true to themselves. We are all created differently. Allowing ourselves to be the person that we really are gives us freedom. When you try to be something you are not, that creates stress. You are trying to live up to expectations that are not realistic for you.

To be successful at whatever you do, you have to realize that you must march to the beat of your drum. How can one do that who has been afraid to be who they are? I will give 3 tips to assist you in transforming from the charatacter that you have been playing to the real person that you truly are.

1. Self Analysis

The first step is performing a self-analysis of you. Take a sheet of blank paper and draw a line down the middle. Label one side Strengths and the other side Weaknesses. Assess for your own self what your strengths and weaknesses are. Be honest. It may be painful to admit what you are not good at but do it. Next, take another sheet of blank paper and write down your accomplishments and your failures. Again, be honest and truthful with yourself. The pain of reliving a past failure may be difficult but you need to do it. Now, review what you have written and ask yourself these questions: (1) am I utilizing the strengths that I have? (2) do I focus on my weaknesses as a means to not be who I am? (3) Are my past failures still haunting me? (4) Are my accomplishments the direct result of using my talents?

The purpose of this self-analysis is to understand the person you truly are. Come to grips with past experiences and let them go. Realize that you have talents that are yours.

2. Believe

Once you have performed the self-analysis, you should now have the courage to be comfortable in your own skin. Your success begins when you believe that you can accomplish what you set out to do. Once you know what your true strengths are, focus your goals on utilizing those talents. Talents are meant to be shared. Believe in your abilities and have the confidence to pursue your dream. It will not be easy. You will meet with failure. The difference is that as long as you stay true to yourself, you can overcome any obstacle, disappointment and failure. This is the power of believing.

3. Listen

Listen to your heart. Follow the beat that surges through your body and plays in your mind. It's telling you what to do. It's giving you instructions to be who you are. It encourages you to go on when you don't think you can. Its beating but you have to listen. You have to not be afraid to dance to your rhythm. You have to not be fearful of who is watching. This is your life. Live your life by your thoughts. Think big, dream and then follow the beat to your drum.

Being a success is all about marching to the beat of your drum. Through honest self-analysis, believing in yourself and listening to your heart, you will achieve all that you desire. It starts with you, the real you!
